Triumph of the Voxel

















I direct this appeal to all who believe in voxels and the Voxelstein project.

Just as I have worked tirelessly for 3 long years now... to build up this project... and made it grow from 0 blog followers to the now 7 strong and loyal followers... so will I, and so will we all... toil and work! For the ressurection of the Voxelstein project.

Blog followers! Give me a couple of years... and I swear, that as I took project lead, so will I leave it!§ I didn't take it for wages or rewards! I took it for your sake!

This evening we vow.. that in each hour, on every day, only to think of the voxel, the Voxelstein project, and the volumetric voxel movement.

I just checked, and you have 36 followers, btw, could you release the new source?
I'm interested in helping, but I don't know a lot about c++ to really help.

Hans Krieg gave me his source code and permission to do whatever I wanted with it, which is funny because I don't know anything about programming.

Yes, I can release his source under a GPLv2 license on google code or sourceforge.

Hans Krieg's source code has a really great level editor.. But the rendering code may need to be rewritten from scratch, however. He wrote a CUDA raytracer, but we later found out that it was a mistake. It is too slow and unplayable, animation cost is too high. And the soft shadows make smooth surfaces such as skin, spheres, round shapes etc look horribly blocky.
