Sir, I envy your guts for doin' it. Now, let's cut to the critique, shall we?

1- The world really needs a better resolution >.>;;

2- Collision is odd. I fell trough a hole I'm sure I wasn' supposed to fit in.

3- We need a chainsaw. Really really need. That or an infinite bomb code. Cutting holes on stuff has never been so fun X3

4- Is there a way to make dynamic lightning without a raytrace-like code?

5- I don' remember Blaskowikz being so short. Or the world being so oddly compressed.

6- I know the whole point is staying away from polygons, but I cant help thinking they could be useful in some invisible way. Like, the player's collision space could be described by a bounding box,

This is really impressive, I didn't think that anyone was really doing anything with voxel engines. Like others have said, more resolution would really help (make it less disorienting) or perhaps if it's possible, use a higher resolution just wherever it's needed. Collision really is funky though, you can take the knife and create a hole in the wall about a foot tall and a couple inches wide and fit through it just by pushing against it for a bit. And yet another re-statement, I'd like to see some codes for infinite time bombs, or a rocket launcher, or something to satisfy our destructive needs!

Also hey, is the C4 explosion sound copyrighed? I want to use it on my game :\

haha!!

I found out how to open the safe. (Use 4 digits that are used a lot on the internet. When you are not a noob you are ... )

And i found out how to cheat! (Think of the original Wolfenstein3D)

VGPRO has mirrored the v0.101 game and patch.

Game:

Patch:

Someone from Voxelstein 3D really needs to make a VGPRO group. Gaming file hosting is free also.

To the guy wanting a chainsaw; in the folder where the games EXE is, there is a file called "config". This is the file that controls weapon behavior, so open it (with notepad) and, for example, change the speed of the knife from 0.4 to 0.01 and change cutting distance from 20 to 70, and you'll have something resembling a blowtorch! :D

And to the guy wanting infinite time bombs, the cheats from wolfenstein 3D still works in this game. >_>

Looks great, esp. the lighting!
What tools are your character/level artists using? I'll look through your old posts for any mention of tools, but I'm really dying to try whatever it is.

Zack said...

I second the request for tools used to make this.
Also, will there be more weaponry as the development progresses?

Eric said...

Without question some excellent work. I second the request for more toys to play with, though the blowtorch knife suggestion j0rgen posted really does help a lot :)

I find it particularly amusing to destroy parts of the environment only to see their shadows left behind (the piano in particular) ;)

Well done! Looking forward to anything else you make.

With the help of the blowtorch knife - deforestation! (Click picture to enlarge)

Wow awesome.... That knife comes in handy, heh... I assume there is only one level? I tried pressing every button, but it stayed at 'level complete" screen for level 1. It's not even a 1.0 so I can see how your not done. I assume a menu screen will come later. Neat idea though.

Hello I'am a french 23years old student, and first I would like to say thank you! Your job is great, lots of humor and it make me come back in time! Wolfenstein was the first game I played on a computer, and the first time I saw it, I loved it. Now, thank to you, I can fill the same way as when I was a little boy!
Thank you and I hope you won't stop because you are doing great! And please If you plan to stop, please try to give us a level editor. You've to know that a lot of french people love your work, even if they don't give you any feedback! To be objective, I haven't find a lot of problem, maybe in some area, the character is too tiny, in the kitchen for example. I really appreciate, the shadow and the different material (wood, stone...)... Thanks again!
Anybody to recreate a carmageddon or a duke nukem? I'm joking but it would be great too!

Hello,
Thanks to google, I found a lot of things about voxel, firstly the wikipédia page, and secondly something witch could helpfull, a voxel editor:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voxel
http://www.ppmsite.com/index.php?go=vxlseinfo
For those who didn't notice, voxelstein is based on ken silverman's work. So there is an official editor for map and objects. But I think the voxel editor from C&C should be more easy to use if it's compatible.
Hope I helped, thanks again for your work.
